Donald W. Winsby

Don Winsby, 93, of Chesterfield, Missouri passed peacefully on March 6, 2023.

A life-long Saint Louisan, Don graduated with honors from Washington University where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

After serving in the Korean War as an Air Force lieutenant, Don worked with his father at the family typesetting business where he became an industry pioneer in photo-composition and computerized typography. He and his sister Julia Merrill also built a successful computer consulting business.

Don was predeceased by his devoted, loving wife of 36 years, Mary Helen. They shared a love of travel, jazz and classical music throughout their lives together.

Many joyous days were spent with family and friends at the Lake of the Ozarks skiing, boating and sailing. He also enjoyed woodworking and used his engineering background to create beautiful works. A beloved father of three and step-father to nine, he is remembered fondly for his quick wit, spirit of generosity and willingness to share his experience with others.

A private memorial was held at Jefferson Barracks.

In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted for the Saint Louis Symphony (https://secure.donationpay.org/slso/).
