Donald Wujek
Donald Wujek, son of Norma and Edwin Wujek, twin brother to Daniel (Millie) Wujek and brother to Darleen (Bob) Arnold, passed away on November 8, 2021 after battling Alzheimer’s disease.
Don is survived by his children Brenda (Chris) Landers and Tom (Heidi) Wujek; his grandchildren: Savannah Landers, Kaitlin (Joseph) Penrod, Cameron Landers, and Noah Wilkinson. He was a great grandfather to Gwyneth Penrod, and former spouse to Janet Wujek.
Born in Bay City, MI, Don graduated from T. L. Handy High School, then attended Central Michigan University, earning graduate and postgraduate degrees in Biology. He then went on to have a 41-year career as a professor at Oakland Community College.
Don enjoyed traveling throughout his life, but had a particular fondness for the Western United States and visiting National Parks. After retirement he wintered in Florida, travelled to Europe, the Northeastern US, and Alaska with his grandchildren. He frequently visited family in Milwaukee and St. Louis. Don was also well known for his love of dining out, and often planned his schedule around the BMOD (Big Meal of The Day).
Don thoroughly appreciated the outdoors and hunting. Each spring and fall, he hunted deer and turkey with his brother Dan, although his accuracy was often in question. He also spent time in northern Michigan bird hunting and socializing with a group of close friends, where the emphasis was on eating and story-telling.
Don will be missed by all who knew him for his affable demeanor, generosity, and sense of humor. The family would like to extend special appreciation to all of the caregivers who loved and cared for Don over the last two years.
I always called Uncle Don my favorite Uncle because he truly was. Sure going to miss him.
Uncle Don was a wonderful person and will be missed by many!
Family is everything to me. I enjoyed visiting with Don, Dan, and Darlene in Florida. We all lived in Michigan, but it took Florida to bring us together. One more angel to watch over all of us.
Please accept our sincerest condolences. We are so saddened to learn of your loss. Don’s family and friends will be in our hearts during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
This breaks my heart to hear this but I’m glad he is past the pains of earthly life! He was always a gentleman and was friendly to all when I worked with him at an Assisted Living Facility in St. Charles.
