Donavon Dale Evashenko, Sr.

Donavon D. Evashenko Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 10, 2017 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Donavon was born in Minot, ND on May 26, 1938 to George and Glenna Evashenko and spent his youth on a family farm near Voltaire, ND. He graduated from Velva High School in 1956 and from North Dakota State University in 1961 with a degree in Agriculture. Donavon was fortunate to be an International Farm Youth Exchange student to (then named) country of Burma. Donavon worked for several publications: Dakota Farmer, Ad Sales/Publisher; Soybean Digest, Publisher; Agri Marketing, Publisher; Drake & Association, where he managed The Christmas Tree Association and Agricultural Publishers Association before retiring in 2006.

Don is survived by his wife, Janice; His children: Tammi, Chesterfield, MO; Donavon Jr. (Jennie) Mesa, AZ; Desireé (Clayton) St. Peters, MO; Darin (Laura), Kansas City, KS. Brother, Dwaine (Gloria) New Hope, MN;

Sister, Dee Riley, Smyrna, DE. 5 grandchildren: Nicole, Donavon III, Cody, Dillan and Garrett; one great grandchild and numerous cousins and friends.

Many lives were touched by such a great man. He will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held April 21, 2017 at Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 327 Woods Mill Rd., Manchester, MO 63011. Visitation will be at 10 o’clock and a service at 11 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Louis Cancer Care LLP, 226 S. Woods Mill Rd. Ste. 45W, Chesterfield, MO 63017 or to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 327 Woods Mill Rd, Manchester, MO 63011.

    My sincere condolences. He was a wonderful man. I am sorry I never got to meet him. His son Donovan is a very special man and I have the good fortune to know him.
