DONNA LOU JONES “DONNA LOU”

DONNA LOU JONES

SUNRISE: JUNE 7, 1953 SUNSET: SEPTEMBER 7, 2020

DONNA LOU JONES “DONNA LOU” was the eldest child born to the Union of the late Ernestine Hawkins Jones Parker and Mr. George Jones Jr. on June 7, 1953 in St. Louis, MO.

Donna Lou had the biggest smile of anyone I have ever known and was the happiest person. She always found something to compliment a person for. She had a very loving spirit.

Her favorite meals were Pork Fried Rice with egg-fu-yong gravy and a Big Mac. Her most attractive features were her pretty eyes and incredibly attractive figure. As she would walk down the street, her attractive figure would get the attention of everyone.

Everyone knew how much Donna Lou admired a handsome looking man and she would express it.

She was an exceptionally clean person and she kept herself, her house and her child clean always. Donna Lou was a caring, loving and sweet person and she would do anything for anyone she knew. She will truly be missed. Although she was Deaf, she was a very jovial person, she loved to laugh and to make other people happy. Donna Lou was very conscientious of other people’s birthday’s and enjoyed sending birthday greetings. She loved to write her family and friends letters and she loved to receive updated pictures. Donna Lou was very friendly and helpful to people as far as helping them with their finances. She would give her last money to help someone in financial distress.

Donna Lou enjoyed her siblings very much. She enjoyed getting together with her family. Amazingly, all her siblings knew sign language and Donna loved communication with them.

Donna Lou’s mother Ernestine Hawkins Parker Jones sudden death in October 2019 shook the family.

Donna Lou’s grandmother, Dorothy Murphy (Aunt Dot) was the matriarch, supporter, and handled all family affairs.

Aunt Dot (who would have been 100 on her birthday), passed a little over 2 months after Donna Lou, which hit home for the family a total of three times within a little over a year.

Donna Lou’s only child was LaDonna Sims (Christopher). They were separated for a period but joyfully reunited in 2013. Donna Lou was so ecstatic when they reconnected.

Donna Lou and her daughter shared similar interests such as clothes, foods, and hair styles.

Donna Lou attended Lutheran Church for the Deaf.

Donna Lou’s dear friend Margaret DeJoie, that she met at a gathering over 45 years ago, will miss her very much.

Donna Lou spent several decades in the care facility because of health issues.

While in the facility, she received particularly good care and her family appreciated that very much.

Donna Lou departed this life on September 7, 2020 after a lengthy illness. After all she has been through, she was happy inside overall. Even though she had that battle with her health, she was a very blessed and happy person.

Left to mourn her beautiful spirit: her daughter LaDonna (Christopher), brothers and sisters, Bernard Jones, Sharon Jones-Rice, George Jones lll (Marsha), Rodney Lee Jones, Gloria Jones, Ernestine Jones (Michael), Mark Anthony Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Some incredibly good friends that will miss her: Margaret DeJoie (Best Friend), Ted (Social Worker), Octavius (Nurse), and Julie (Interpreter).
