Dorothy “Dot” Knittel

Departed peacefully (to become a star in the sky) on December 6, 2014 at her home.

She was the youngest child of the late Michael and Anna Haas. Dorothy was born on August 6, 1926 in St. Louis, MO. Just prior to Dorothy’s death, she and Sylvester celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Dorothy was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Our Lady of Good Council Church and later on, a member of the 50 Plus Club at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Pevely Dairy was Dorothy’s place of employment for 47 years as the confidential bookkeeper. Dorothy always had a smile on her face, loved to be around other people and enjoyed life.
Dorothy (nicknamed “Bird” by Sylvester) is survived by her beloved husband, Sylvester Knittel.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Haas Willmann (the late Ralph Willmann).

Dorothy was a sister-in-law to the late Dorothy Hafemeister Knittel (the late Harry Hafemeister); the late Helen Beier Knittel (the late Gus Beier); Jeanette Knittel; the late Raymond Knittel (Gabriella Knittel); Richard Knittel, Sr. (the late Doris Knittel); the late Charlotte Cole Knittel (the late Bob Cole) and Francis Knittel (Donna Knittel).
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., December 16th, St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 8300 Morganford Road, St. Louis, MO.

Arrangements are under the direction of the St. Louis Cremation, St. Louis, MO.
