Dorothy J. Schenkel

Dorothy J. Schenkel passed away quietly on September 25, 2018 at Delmar Gardens on the Green in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Mrs. Schenkel was born on January 10, 1927 to Anthony and Kathleen Laudicina. She was married to her beloved husband Richard W. Schenkel for 48 years, from 1950 until 1998 when he deceased. A Webster College graduate of voice, she spent most of her adult life teaching voice and piano to children and adults of all ages. She also worked for many years as an executive secretary/assistant for the St. Louis government and for 7 years in Kaiserslautern, Germany for the American military. She loved to cook and host parties for family and friends. She was vibrant, joyous and generous to everyone she met.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Kay Logston; son, John Schenkel; and grandson James Smart. Her sister Mary McCarthy resides in Iowa and is her lone surviving sibling. She is an aunt and great aunt to nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 2nd at St. John Bosco Church at 11:00 AM. The address is 12934 Marine Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63146. A reception will follow the service at the Church and then her ashes will be interred at Jefferson Barracks following the reception.

    I am so sorry for your loss. She was an amazing music teacher and friend. I learned so much from her, including, how to live a happy and fulfilled life.
