Douglas James Lawhorn

Douglas James Lawhorn (Doug), left his home on Friday, February 19, 2021, to go to the heavenly home prepared for him. Doug was born on September 20, 1943, in Nashville, IL. He married Patricia Lamons and they celebrated 57 years of life together. They were blessed with three children: Christopher James (Tracy Pitzer) Sarah Marie and David William (Amie Owens); and ten grandchildren: Mackenzie, Abby, Madison, Paige, Mia, Gavin, Addie, Ellie, Liam, and Phoebe. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ollie Lawhorn, his brother William Lawhorn, and his sisters Mary Ellen Gowins and Sylvia Counts. He leaves nieces and nephews who enjoyed sharing time with him. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Doug worked for 50 years at McDonald Douglas and Boeing Aircraft where he made life-long friendships. Doug enjoyed many years of service with the athletic association at St. John and James in Ferguson. His smile and warm caring personality will be missed by all. There will be a funeral mass to celebrate Doug’s life at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Webster Groves, Friday, March 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Donations in Doug’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.

    It was so sad to read of the passing of COACH Lawhorn, he will always hold a special place in God’s and our hearts.
