Douglas Robert Watson

Brother, father, son, husband, teacher, friend to all, jokester, philosopher, theologian, world traveler, brave warrior and lover of life. The world lost a good man when Doug slipped away peacefully on Sunday, June 10, after a long battle with prostate cancer.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11 am at:

Parkway United Church of Christ
2841 Ballas Road
St. Louis, Missouri 63131

A reception and light lunch will be served in the church hall following Doug’s service.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Doug graduated from Fairmont West High School, Kettering, Ohio in 1974, and received his BA from Miami University of Ohio in 1978. He started his career teaching woodworking and drafting at Carroll High School in Dayton, Ohio for several years, and later became Lead Travel Director at Maritz in Fenton, Missouri. His job allowed him to travel the world and meet and work with many fascinating people in exotic locales.

Doug later become a real estate agent with REMAX Results, at the West County office on Manchester Road, so he could spend more time with his children, whom he adored.

Beloved son of Walter (“Wally”) Everett Watson and Irvina (“Vi”) Mary Watson, Doug is survived by his daughters, Jenna, Julia and Erica Watson, his wife, Mary Emery Watson, his sister, Linda Troutman, and nephew, Aaron Troutman of Dayton, Ohio, his sister, Susan Alden, and brother-in-law, Jon Gobetti, of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as many wonderful friends.

The family wishes to thank Sandy Hancock and all Doug’s fellow REMAX Results agents for their long-standing and unwavering support of Doug during his illness.

Also, a special thanks to John T. Parker, Kevin Cameron, John Scott and Jane Gallagher, and the congregation of the Parkway United Church of Christ for their compassion, prayers and support.

The world is a smaller and darker place without the light that is my great friend Doug. I will miss talking for hours about everything and nothing. (If you know Doug, you know what I mean).

A true renasaince man, gentlman and my go to for questions and answers.

I love you Doug. There is no one like you.

Linda and Susie: I was sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved brother. I remember the three of you when you were kids living across the street from my aunt and uncle – Lou and Evelyn Sideroff. I know they thoroughly enjoyed your family and I did also when visiting. Know you and Doug’s family are in my thoughts at this time.

Where ever your new journey leads those you meet along the way are in for a special treat.
Just ask those you left behind should you ever need a recommendation, I doubt you will.

Doug always had time to talk and listen, provide ideas and support. He loved life, his family and his many, many friends. He has made me smile more times than I can think and made me stop and think. The world needed more of Doug’s spirit. He will be missed by so many and he left us too soon. I am glad he is no longer in pain and I pray for his family – we will all meet up again and Doug can sing Mack the Knife for us! Doug was a great friend.
