Earl was born in Fargo, North Dakota on April 1, 1928 to Erick & Petra (Forness) York. He graduated from Fargo Central in 1946, joined the Navy and served as a corpsman from 1946-48. He married Ruby June Walker in 1948 in Fargo. He graduated from North Dakota Agriculture College with a teaching degree in 1952 and received his Master’s in 1955. He taught and was a Superintendent in North Dakota for 16 years. In 1968-1973 he was appointed ND Director of US Savings Bonds. In 1973, he moved to High Ridge, Missouri as Regional Director of US Savings Bonds where he won many National Awards and retired in 1992. He loved the family vacations at Lakes Crystal and Lida, St Louis Cardinals, playing cribbage, pinochle and taking his grandchildren to Grants Farm.

Earl and Ruby never missed their granddaughters Cailey’s and Lexi’s volleyball and soccer games from grade school through high school. They were also their biggest supporters through the girls’ gymnastics and dance recitals, along with all the other sports they played throughout the years. He was well liked by everyone and brought joy to all he met. A devoted husband, father and grandpa now he is with his dearly beloved Ruby on a lake fishing and just enjoying one another. We love you and miss you both.

We request any memorials be made to Backstoppers or your favorite animal shelter in Earl’s name. Per Earl’s request no service will be held.
