Edward Allyn Cordonier

Edward Allyn Cordonier of St. Peters, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the age of 62, after battling cancer. Beloved husband of 39 years to Cathy Cordonier

Ed is survived by his wife, Cathy, parents Guy Edward and Arley Mae Cordonier, siblings Becky Miller, Mary Cordonier, Andy Cordonier (Nancy), and Arley Cordonier. He is the father of Chris Cordonier (Theresa), Teresa Bowman (Jeremy), Patty Hoormann (Matt), and Robert Cordonier. The devoted grandpa (paw-paw) to Madeline, Gabrielle, Annabelle, Finley, Xander, and Eloise as well as uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Ed was born in St. Joseph and grew up on a farm in Clarksdale, MO. He went to Maysville High School (class of 1973) and graduated from Missouri Western State University with a BS in Biology in 1979. At Missouri Western he was in chess club, the fraternity Delta Chi, in which he was the president, and the biology club. Then in 1984 he earned a BS in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. After graduating from Missouri Western he was hired by Southwestern Bell Telephone as their Metadata Specialist and moved to St. Louis. While working he received advanced degrees from Washington University (Master of Information Management) and Webster University (Computer Science Distributed Systems). He then retired from his profession as Metadata Specialist with AT&T and IBM. After retirement he enjoyed working part time with Sears and Dierbergs.

Ed met the love of his life, Cathy, at Missouri Western State University in 1974. Cathy caught Ed’s eye while attending a microbiology lab. It wasn’t until the Christian Campus House that they became better acquainted and then married in 1979.

Ed was a loving, devoted husband, father, son, brother, and grandpa. Ed enjoyed woodworking and gardening, especially tomatoes. He was a pinball wizard and enjoyed reading any book he could get his hands on. Ed was involved with church, from helping with the church picnic to being a sponsor for RCIA . He was an assistant scoutmaster and merit badge counselor with the Boy Scouts of America, and he took both his sons on Scout camping trips and many other outings. He enjoyed BBQ in which he was called a grill master and took pleasure in hunting squirrels at the family farm, either by himself or with anyone who cared to join him. He instructed his children on the proper way to use a rifle.

A celebration of His life will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at All Saints Catholic Church in St. Peters, where the visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by Mass starting at 10:00am. After Mass, everyone is invited to a luncheon at the All Saints Annex located at 310 Cardinal Place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Five Acres Animal Shelter, where he adopted Teddy his companion through cancer, or a charity of your choice in honor of Ed’s memory.

Cathy, Chris, Teresa, Patty and Robert, The world is a sadder place without Ed.
It breaks our hearts to let him go. Ed has obtained his eternal reward and is with his Lord and Savior. We love you all and want you to know we’re here for you always.
Cathy, you know what’s in our hearts and where we are. The three of us will have to enjoy life like Ed would want us to, you’re stuck with us!
    Always in our prayers.

My very deepest condolences to such an amazing family, friends and long-time neighbors. Haven’t seen Ed in person in years, but remember him as kind — and tall — and very much a sweet young man. A tribute to his raising.
Love the last pic of him looking skyward as tho he’s always known where he is going someday. You are all in my prayers.
