Elaine Kathryn Snyder

With heavy hearts we are truly saddened to say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Elaine Kathryn Snyder. After 87 years, Elaine was welcomed into God’s kingdom on Sunday, March 30th, 2025 with her cherished family by her side. Her kindness and generosity were surpassed only by her love of family.

Survived by her cherished husband Deacon Bob; sons John (Carol), Stephen (Betsy), Daniel (Michele) and Christopher (Crystine); grandchildren Nicole Yount, Abbey Miller, Nathan Snyder, Adam Snyder, Madison Beckert, Austin Snyder, Peyton Snyder, Madelyn Snyder, Robert J. Snyder II and Charles Snyder as well as seven beautiful great grandchildren of whom she doted over and adored.

Elaine was born on March 22, 1938 to Charles and Nell Fick in University City, the fourth child of five. She is preceded in death by her parents as well as siblings Philip, Dale and Wayne and survived by sister Margaret (Peggy).

Steeped in their Catholic faith and love for God, Elaine and Bob were members of St. Elizabeth of Hungary parish in Crestwood, Missouri. They were happily involved in the parish for more than 50 years and Elaine spent more than 30 years as a member of the choir.

Elaine was an active alum of Mercy High School and her stories of running into former classmates or their siblings seemed endless. She had a love for life and absolute devotion to Bob since their blind date in 1954, then married for 65 years. They traveled the world together and spent many vacations enjoying the splendor that God created.

A memorial mass celebrating the life of Elaine Snyder will occur on Monday, 4/21/2025 at St. Catherine Laboure Parish, 9740 Sappington Road, 63128 beginning at 10:00am.   Attendees are welcome to greet the family starting at 9:00am.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to East Side Heart and Home Family Center (700 Summit Ave, East St. Louis, IL 62201) would be welcome.

Met Elaine when attending Mercy High, class of 1956! Have many fond memories of her through the years and the luncheons and get togethers of our class especially after the 50 year class reunion! She was a loving and very special woman who will be sorely missed even as she rests in the arms of her Heavenly Father!! So happy to have shared life with you Elaine! My thoughts and prayers are with Bob and family!!
