Elaine Marie Barthel (Chambers)

Elaine Marie Barthel (Chambers) passed away April 18, 2023. She was born June 1,1963 in St. Louis, MO, to Father Alroy Chambers (Preceded) and Mother Shirley Chambers (Survived).

Elaine married David Barthel (Survived) on October 18, 1986 they shared 36 years of marriage. They have 3 Lovely Children:  Nathan (Ashley) Barthel, Natalie (Brian) Theurer, and Evan (Jordan) Barthel.

Survived by Grandchildren, Madisyn, Bailee, Jackson, Ryder, Oliver, Elena, Josiah, and Isla. As well as Siblings: Mark (Joyce) Chambers, and Maryann (Doug) Fox

Elaine was known by all for walking faithfully. She desired to grow closer to the Lord and live by what she learned in scripture. This was evident  in the way she loved others unconditionally, brought others joy, and showed deep compassion and empathy for those who were hurting. She  never hesitated to cast aside her own needs and anxieties to help bear other’s burdens. She would frequently call old friends or members of the  family on the phone to catch up and be there for them even in the mundane times of their lives. She just genuinely cared.  At every get together, she would light up the room with her smile and laughter. Even if she walked in to a gathering where she didn’t know  anyone, it wasn’t very long before you turned around and she was surrounded by people, laughing like they’d been lifelong friends.  She was delighted to spend time with her whole family, including her children and grandchildren. She would be so full of excitement when she got to be with the little ones and enjoyed making them happy any way she could.

Elaine was amazing in every relationship she built. She was a light to everyone that she knew and a beacon of love and faith.

Nathalie, I will be out of town and cannot attend. It breaks my heart but I cannot change what we have arranged. Please know everyone is in our hearts and prayers during this time. Elaine was a true blessing/gift to everyone.

To all Elaine’s family and friends and in living memory of Elaine, I pray the following brings you comfort and strength. Cancer is cruel and really stinks, but there is something cancer cannot do…
    Cancer is so limited…
    It cannot cripple Love.
    It cannot shatter Hope.
    It cannot corrode Faith.
    It cannot destroy Peace.
    It cannot kill Friendship.
    It cannot suppress Memories.
    It cannot silence Courage.
    It cannot invade the Soul.
    It cannot steal Eternal Life.
    It cannot conquer the Spirit.
    Cancer is so limited!

May God bless all of you who grieve our loss of Elaine, but we do not grieve with her. She has broken through the chains of cancer, the chains of pain and is now with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. THAT is nothing to be sad! Let’s rejoice with Elaine for a life well-lived, as we muse the good times and memories. Love you, Lainey!

She was such a special person after losing Craig with lung cancer that spread to the brain, I couldn’t believe she got brain cancer as well. She will always be in my heart. Such a great family. Aunt Shirley I love you so much I know how bad your heart hurts it doesn’t matter how old they are they are still our babies. God be with you.

    Nate,
I never met your mother but I knew her through you. For the last few years we worked side by side and I called you son.
Mom was in you and it showed at work. I’ll continue to pray for you, Ashley and your family. Joy cometh in the morning.
    Love you son…

Sweet friends and family to Elaine I will be out of the country and will not be able to say a final farewell to Elaine. I had known her for many years but only in the last few have I gotten to know her a bit better, and in her last days when I had the honor of sitting with her to hold her hand did I really know her strength, Faith, resilience and her spirit. She taught me more in that day than I can tell you. She loved her family fiercely and gave us the gift of her love. She will be forever with our King with new life in eternity and we will see her again 🙏☀️💕

Everything above is 100% true. She always had a great smile and beautiful attitude. It was a great pleasure to have known her even though it was short. My thoughts and prayers to all of her family. Why do the great ones leave us so soon?

I cannot think of Elaine without smiling! She has been a part of our family since the day we moved into our house on Sunrise! And if you knew Elaine, you knew ALL of her family! She loved everyone she met. Her faith was so strong and true. I feel sorry for those that did not have the opportunity to meet Elaine, they missed meeting a true angel of God. The Hankemeyers will miss her terribly, but know she is where she has longed to be, with Jesus! God bless her and all of you, Barb and Jim, Melissa, & Jim
