Elizabeth Jean (Byrne) Steinlage
Elizabeth “Betty” Jean (Byrne) Steinlage passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2025, at
the age of 78, surrounded by her beloved children, grandchildren, and family. Born in St. Louis,
Missouri, on April 12, 1947, Betty lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to
those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” Byrne and Bernadine “Nan” Byrne, her
sister Kathleen Bayer, and brothers-in-law Bill Bayer and Steve Eichhorn.
Betty is survived by her loving children Tracy (Daryn) Krulik and William “Bill” Steinlage Jr.;
cherished grandchildren Chelsie Krulik, Kourtney Krulik, Claire Steinlage, Haley Mauzy, and
Madison Mauzy; and devoted sisters Mary Beard (Harry), Bernadette Eichhorn, and Terry (Jim) Moenning.
She is also lovingly remembered by her eight nieces and nephews and fifteen great-
nieces and nephews.
If you knew Betty, you loved her. Her kindness and warmth were instantly felt by everyone she
met—she truly never met a stranger. Betty had a gift for crocheting and made blankets for every
member of her family and many friends. She also generously donated her handmade creations
to those undergoing dialysis and cancer treatment. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, she found
joy in watching baseball games with her sisters and granddaughter.
Family was the center of Betty’s world, especially her children, granddaughters, and sisters. She
worked for many years at Catholic Supply and O’Byrne with her family and, after retirement,
continued to give back by caring for the elderly through in-home visits.
Services for Betty will be held on August 12, 2025, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 15
Forest Knoll Dr., Fenton, MO 63026.
Visitation will be held in the church vestibule from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Mass at 2:00
p.m.
Betty’s life was a beautiful example of love, generosity, and faith. She will be deeply missed and
forever remembered.
What can I say about a lifelong friend? She was wonderful, kind and generous. I will miss her so much. Pam Loftus
