Elizabeth Moriarity
Elizabeth Ann Moriarity R.N. (Betty) died peacefully on February 4th, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Wife of John (Bub) Moriarity. Daughter of Dr. Robert V. Brennan and the late Jinx Brennan. Loving mother of Amy Howdeshell (Larry), Michael Moriarity (Julie), and Patrick Moriarity (Catherine). Adoring grandmother of Jake, Lena, Joe, Mary Claire, Kate, Ellie, Madeleine, Brady, Annalise, Emily, Jessie, James, and Rosemary. Loving sister of Barb Sanders, Jim Brennan (Pat), Mary Jotte (Rick), Tom Brennan (Claire), and Ed Brennan (Jill). Beloved aunt and cousin to many.
Betty lived a remarkable life. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, and then from St. John’s Nursing School. She was a dedicated nurse for 49 years, working at St. John’s, St. Joe’s, and St. Clare. She also volunteered on two medical mission trips to El Salvador. She was an avid golfer, bridge player, walker, tennis player, and she loved spending time with friends and family at Terre du Lac. She was a volunteer usher at the Fox Theater for 10 years. Betty and Bub traveled to many beautiful places over the years, and she loved planning trips. Betty was a faithful parishioner at St. Peter in Kirkwood for 50 years, where she volunteered at many events. She lived life to the fullest and was known for her incredible organizational skills and fun personality. After she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in August, 2016, her motto became “Live in the Moment”. She was extremely blessed with 50 plus volunteer caregivers over the past year, and these friends and family gave selflessly of their time to help her. Betty was a devoted friend and this quote is a good example of how she lived: “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier” (Mother Theresa).
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Peter in Kirkwood on Saturday, February 17th at 12:30 p.m. Visitation in the vestibule of the church from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House. Betty chose to donate her body to St. Louis University Medical School.

The world and your family lost a most courageous and generous woman and loving wife and mother. She will most certainly be missed in so many ways.
Her life was certainly too short, but it was definitely well-lived. She is an example for us all. May she be at peace.
These pictures truly capture the beauty and grace (mixed in with a whole lot of fun) that we all know as Betty! That spirit will never leave this Earth as it lives on in all of us that were lucky enough to cross paths with the amazing soul we call Betty! May God give us all the strength to truly feel her spirit and love each and every day! Be a Betty…..the world will be a much better place if we all can live our lives the way Betty did!
