November 17, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri. Beloved wife of Bruce ‘Elliott’ Ranney; loving mother of Bryan (Sarah), Stephen, and William; doting ‘Ellie’ to Thomas; dear sister of Mary Kay Stephans, Ann Schuchart, Margaret Schneider, Bill Murphy, Richard Murphy,
Jane Godfrey, Tom Murphy, and Pattie Voss; cherished daughter of the late Mary Cotten and W. Talbot Murphy; aunt, cousin, niece, sister-in-law, and friend. Ellen graduated from Saint Louis University with a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1995.
In addition to her life’s work as a therapist, she was an author, singer, and educator. Memorials may be gifted in Ellen’s name to St. Francis Community Services. (sfcsstl.org)
