Uncle Elmer had a big influence on my life. One of my earliest memories is sitting at the piano with him at Grandma Macke’s house, as he helped me find notes. I remember singing with the family as he played on holidays (especially Thanksgiving). We both share the love of songwriting and country music.

When he was in the Navy, my family took vacations to Pensacola. His ship had a family day and we all went out to sea. I witnessed his love of photography and I think that’s why I became interested. I still have a photograph he took of me that day.

Thank you, Elmer, for showing me your passions and enriching my life because of it.
