Emma Jean James

Emma Jean James‘ Legacy began January 24, 1936 in Aberdeen Mississippi to the late Ben & Emma Ambrose. She was one of 15 children. Emma Jean relocated to East St. Louis IL in 1971 to start her new life. She made her transition from labor to rest on May 31, 2019.

Emma Jean was a life long member of the North End Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith in God was very Strong. She took pride and was a devoted to cooking for her church family. She was known for her famous fried chicken (that everybody in the community loved). Emma Jean was a Devoted Housewife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Her entire life consisted of serving others. She had a heart of PURE GOLD.

Emma Jean was preceded in death her husband William James, her sons Robert and William David James, her daughter Patricia James, granddaughter Shaniki James, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Emma Jean leaves tp cherish her memory: two daughters Mary (Robert) Hudson East St. Louis IL., Valarie James East St. Louis IL., three sons Ricky James East St. Louis IL., Eddie James East St. Louis IL., Antonio (Wondez) James East St. Louis IL., six sisters Molly Burns, Jimmie Dean, Willie Harris, Barbara Zelinski, Helen Ambrose, Shirley Smith, two brothers Charles Ambrose, Harvey Ambrose, 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    To the family of Mother James, our deepest condolences and sympathy. Many fond memories of her and her cooking at the church. Also of her and our mom hanging out at the house. Our thoughts and prayers for all. She was a beatuiful woman of God.
