Emmeline Dorothy Schmidt (nee Boettcher)
Emmeline Dorothy Schmidt (nee Boettcher) passed away peacefully at Laclede Groves Nursing Home on 4/26/2024 at the age of 99. She was born in St. Louis, MO to William and Emma Boettcher on 12/03/1924. Emmeline was confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and attended Cleveland High School. As a young lady, Emmeline worked locally at Brown Shoe Company, the City Hospital Infirmary, Western Union, and the William Boettcher Greenhouse. She was married on September 15, 1945 and pre-deceased by her husband, Lawrence Schmidt after 36 years of marriage.
After moving to Shrewsbury in 1953, Emmeline attended Ascension Lutheran Church, where her daughters attended school and were both confirmed and married. Emmeline bowled at the Shrewsbury Bowling Alley on the ladies Coffee Break League and later became a member of the Shrewsburians Community Club. She worked at the Webster Groves High School Cafeteria and at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Mother’s Day Out Program. Emmy resided at Our Lady of Life apartments for 14 years and she was a lifelong Cardinal Baseball fan.
Emmeline is lovingly remembered by her Daughter and Son in Law, Linda and John Braaf of St. Louis and Daughter and Son in Law, Christine and Beau Hatch of Oak Ridge, TN, and former Son in Law, Scott Reilly of MI. Grandma Emmy is also lovingly remembered by Rachel Braaf Koehler and Matt Koehler of Crestwood, MO, Sara Madden and Robert Madden of Seminole, FL, and Lindsay Reilly of Berkely, MI. Great Grandchildren, Kathryn Koehler and Benjamin Koehler of Crestwood, MO, Robby Madden, Lizzie Madden, and Grace Madden of Seminole, FL gently keep loving memories close to their hearts as well.
Dear Daughter, Wife, Mother, Mother in Law, Sister In Law, and Sister of Dorothy, William, Olaf, Helen, Raymond, Verna, Milton, and Esther. Dear Aunt, Great Aunt, Great Great Aunt, Niece, Cousin, neighbor, and friend to many.
A Celebration of Life service is planned at Ascension Lutheran Church on 7-17-2024 at 11:30 AM. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, located at 5347 Donovan Ave., St. Louis, MO 63109. Lunch will follow service.
