Ervin Joseph Hupp, aged 68, of Saint Louis, Missouri, peacefully passed away on December 31, 2023.Born on January 27, 1955, Erv will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering principles, love for music, and ability to find joy in the simplest of moments. His departure leaves a void that will be felt deeply by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Ervin is survived by his devoted fiancée and the love of his life for over a decade, Holly Black. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha LaRue (née Hupp) and Emily Spurgin (née Hupp), as well as his beloved cats, Emma and Marty, who were more than pets – they were his cherished feline children who he spoiled to the hilt. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who will forever cherish the impact of his humor and kindness.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Grace Hupp (née Stoneburner), and siblings June Crain (née Hupp), Ellen Hornbeck (née Hupp), and Richard Hupp Jr., who gave his life in service during the Vietnam War.

For 34 years, Erv dedicated himself to the St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic and was a proud union member. His strong convictions and values were evident in both his professional and personal life. Erv believed firmly in living a life that brought happiness, and he carried this philosophy with him, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew and loved him. As a staunch advocate of American values, Erv not only celebrated the ideals of freedom and justice but also embodied a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship and integrity that defined American-made items, especially cars.

To honor Erv’s memory, a celebration of life will be held at Fast Lane Classic Cars in St Charles, MO, on Saturday, January 27th from 12 pm to 5 pm – a fitting tribute on his birthday. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a man who touched so many hearts. This casual gathering will be held in the event space at Fast Lane Classic Cars which is on the upper level of the gift shop.
