Erwin Albert Kohler

Erwin Albert Kohler, also known as Zeke, passed away on January 18, 2024, at his home in Manchester, MO, at the age of 89. He was born on February 15, 1934, in Imperial, MO. Erwin had a thrifty, but fiery spirit. He was often found tinkering in the garage or lending a helping hand to neighbors with their projects. 

Erwin is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary, and their children, Ervie (Candy), Sandra, and Donald (Alma). He is also survived by his siblings, Emerald, Jane, and Melvin, as well as six beloved grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Erwin attended Herculaneum High School, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Following his education, he proudly served in the US Army, where he honed his skills and contributed to the nation’s defense.

After his military service, Erwin dedicated his entire career to Laclede Gas Company. Starting as a humble ditch digger, he worked his way up to become a Superintendent, showcasing his unwavering dedication and work ethic.

In his leisure time, Erwin found solace in fishing at his beloved lake house. The tranquility of nature and the thrill of reeling in a catch brought him great joy.

A memorial service will be held on March 27th 2024, 1:00 PM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, where Erwin will be honored for his service to his country and remembered for the remarkable life he led.

Erwin Albert Kohler, a devoted husband, loving father, and respected member of his community, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who mourn his loss.

    Grandpa Kohler taught Tony and I how to properly clean fish. That man was an artist when it came to cleaning fish and showed my best friend Tony the proper way to be a man
