Ethel Lue Gates

Ethel Lue Gates was born October 16, 1922 in Marianna Arkansas to the late Columbus and Isabel Patrick.

Ethel Lue was married in 1934 to the late Jessie Gates, Sr. She is preceded in death by five children Jessie, Jr., Larry, Lewis, Eddie and Mary.

Ethel Lue was educated by the Arkansas public schools. She later moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she worked and raised her children. She was able to retire from Eden Publishing Company.

Ethel gave her life to God and became a member of Zion Lutheran Church under the leadership of Pastor Frederick Raedeke. She would tell anyone that they needed God in their life and they needed to attend church.

Ethel Lue Gates loved fishing. She had a great passion for growing things in her gardens, this was a great joy of her life. She was able to touch so many lives both young and old by feeding them with the many things she grow .

Doing her illness she was blessed to have special care givers Allen, George, Sharon, Ira and Rita. On August 31, 2016 God called her home with her family by her said.

Ethel Lue Gates leaves to cherish her memories to her children, Caney (Shirley), Ethel Mae, James (Mrytel), Joesephus (Jean), Doris (Maurice, Sr.), Charlotte and Thress; sisters Ann Nelson of St. Louis, MO, LeEster Lott and Gracie Allen of Omaha, Nebraska; three generations of grandchildren; the zion corner residents, Beverly Manager, other family members and friend.
