Evelyn Lucile Hodge

Evelyn Lucile Hodge, 80, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2021.

Evelyn was born on October 6, 1940, to Ralph Francis and Vivian Lucile Jackson Potashnick.

She grew up in Sikeston, Missouri, and earned her Master of Arts/Teaching degree from Webster University in St. Louis. Evelyn worked in education, teaching, and making a positive impact in the lives of many children. Evelyn was a gifted pianist and enjoyed playing the flute. She loved to write poems that were personalized for her family and friends on their birthdays, anniversaries, and any special occasion.

Her greatest joys were her grandchildren; Samantha (Jeff) Hinkle, Sara (Kyle) Jefferson, Steven Toben, Matthew Hensley, William Ingmire, Jacob Ingmire, and her great-grandchildren; Jackson Small, Lewis Hinkle, and Aliyah Hensley. Lovingly known to them as their “Ma”, she enjoyed spending time with them reading, playing, and attending important events they participated in.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Rich) Ingmire, Deborah (Lee) Cunningham, brother, Sam (Janie) Potashnick, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vivian Potashnick, and her two sisters, Francis Potashnick and Margaret Potashnick.

Evelyn “Ma” will be remembered for her love of her family, smiles, laughter, and her kind and generous heart. She will be missed by all that loved her.

    Evelyn was one of the kindest people I ever met. We worked together for many years, and her love for her students was apparent. What a beautiful lady. My condolences to her family.
