Frank James Woodard, Sr.
November 8th, 1934 – November 14th, 2024
Frank James Woodard, Sr. was born to Carrie E. (Clardy) on November 8, 1934, in Oak Grove, Kentucky – the eldest of five children. During his childhood, the family moved to Evansville, Indiana. Here, Frank received his formal education at Lincoln High School.
Later, he joined the U.S. Army where he served honorably for four years. Upon his return home, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jo Williams. From this union six children were born, Dwight Randall, Anthony Jerome, Frank Jr., Janina Lynn, Geoffrey Lee and Owen Keith.
Frank worked diligently at Chrysler Corporations in Evansville. Later, when the plant relocated, he and his family moved to St. Louis, MO, where he remained employed by Chrysler Corporations for over 35 years.
Frank, after a careful study of the Bible, dedicated his life to Jehovah God by water baptism on October 30, 1964. He remained one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 60 years, sharing Bible truths with others…Always ready to assist his spiritual brothers and sisters in any way he could.
Frank had a reputation of being even keeled, approachable and fair minded, which endeared him to many in the Christian congregation.
After the death of his wife, Betty Jo in 2004. Frank found love again and married Della Ruth Thomas. They enjoyed nearly 20 years of marriage, spending time in their ministry, traveling and enjoying life, until he became ill. Even on his sickbed, Frank continued to be a beloved brother that many would confide in and seek guidance from. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Jakes, sister Minnie, brother Kenneth, his first wife Betty Jo, sons Dwight and Frank Jr. and his grandson Frank III.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Della Ruth, daughter Janina, sons: Anthony (Shirley), Geoffrey (Wanda) and Owen. Stepsons,Ryan Elliot and Jason Daniel, all of St. Louis, MO. A brother, Dr. Michael D. Woodard, of Atlanta, GA and a sister, Addie Lucille Stewart of Evansville, IN. Eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
