Fred and Linda Kaveny

Fred Kaveny 2/14/1930 – 11/17/2020 and wife Linda (Rodman) Boaz Kaveny 09/01/1946 – 11/27/2020

On Tuesday, November 17th, 2020, Fred Kaveny of St. Paul, Missouri, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 90 after battling Covid-19. 10 days later, on November 27th, 2020, his wife and best friend, Linda Kaveny, a loving mother, wife, and grandmother, also passed away battling Covid-19 in the hospital at the age of 74.

Fred and Linda were loved by many. They were married for 31 years and they were best friends. They joined in heaven their daughters-in-law Lenni and Fannie, son-in-law Chuck, and granddaughter Kathleen. Between Fred and Linda, they had 6 blended family children: Sue Kaveny, Pat Kaveny, Tim Kaveny, Kathy (Kaveny) Hossain, Jeff and Lynnette Boaz, and Lynn (Schrodt) and Mike Sauer. Together, they were blessed with 17 grandchildren: Chrissy, Jasmine, Michael, Austin, Taylor, Amber, Jesse, Christian, JJ, Carlee, Robbie, Emma, Jimmy, Sarah, Ashley, Josh, Bekka and 13 great-grandchildren. Linda left behind two sisters Joan (Rodman) Zickel and Karen Tebbenhoff, and was a dear sister-in-law to Steve Zickel and loving aunt to Jamie Zickel Oberkamp and Scott Zickel.

Fred retired from Emerson Electric in 1991. He was also an honored veteran where he heroically served in the Air force during the Korean War.

Fred enjoyed many hobbies such as: collecting and building model trains, old cars, and flying and building model airplanes. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids fishing and helping the kids ride scooters and golf carts around the property. He even taught his kids and grandkids how to work on vehicles as well and taught them how to shoot on the range. He enjoyed spending time with his family outdoors.

Linda also retired from Emerson Electric, where she met Fred. She was loved by so many and was always there to lend a helping hand to a friend or family member in need. She was most happy planning time with family, friends and numerous social functions. Linda was a social butterfly who loved to keep in touch with friends from her childhood and highschool, Emerson colleagues, Car club friends, and neighborhood friends by planning events, lunches, shopping trips, and playing bunko and card games. Her family and friends were always welcomed at her home and just a phone call away. She was also the biggest fan of the St. Louis Cardinals!

Together, Fred and Linda both enjoyed car club events, bon fires, plays, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues games, fish fries, and going to Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas each year with the family.

At this time we request donations be made to MPN Research Foundation. Due to the rising numbers of Covid-19 cases, a memorial will be held at a yet to be determined date. The family is grateful for your love and support during this difficult time.

Condolences to the family. Linda and Fred were loved by their many friends. I worked with them at Emerson and have stayed in touch ever since. I find it difficult to accept that they are gone.

There are so many wonderful memories of times with Fred & Linda! Going to car shows in Oklahoma City, Louisville, KY, & many other places. Fred introduced me to butter pecan ice cream & it’s been my favorite ever since! I remember going to a weekend car show & Fred having to go to the emergency room because one of his outside cats had scratched him badly & gave him (literally) “cat scratch fever”! Linda always LOVED to shop-we hit every vendor at every car show. It always was fun times traveling with them! Man, we’re going to miss them! They have such a beautiful home, always welcoming everybody, playing cards, BBQ’S, bonfires, the world will not be the same. Thank you, God for allowing us to be blessed with the pleasure of knowing them & meeting so many of their kids & grandkids.

Linda and I went to Mann school together for 8 years. We also were in the same Sunday school class until we left high school. She was a dear life long friend. I also flew Rv airplanes with Fred and we both have old cars. We only live a mile apart. Linda always organized get together for our grade school class. I really will miss her and Fred.
