Gene Raymond Schweihs

Gene Raymond Schweihs, age 90, of Crestwood, Missouri, passed away Tuesday morning, October 3, 2023, at Big Bend Woods Healthcare Center.

He was born November 8, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Raymond Besinger and Florence Erickson and adopted son of the late James Schweihs.

Gene is survived by one son, David Schweihs and his wife, Cindy Schweihs; three grandchildren, Kaylen Armistead Matheny and her husband, Don R. Matheny, Kevin Armistead and his wife, Jessie Armistead, and Michael Lamb; three half-brothers, Thomas, Allen and Edward Schweihs; two half-sisters, Connie Schweihs Regan and Amanda Besinger Hingle; two sons-in-law, David Lamb and Scott Armistead; one great-grandson, Kadin Armistead and one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Matheny.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Sandra Schweihs; two daughters, Pamela Lamb and Linda Armistead; one brother Robert James Inman; two half-brothers, James Schweihs and William Besinger; one half-sister, Joanne Schweihs Nelson; and one grandson, Brian Armistead.

Gene honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He proudly worked as a licensed boat captain voyaging with many passengers and crew members. He was President of Lenda Products, Inc. located at Fenton Industrial Park, and a skilled salesman. He lived a full life traveling to many places with his wife, family, and friends. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, entertaining family and friends with golf cart rides and leisurely boat rides on the Mississippi River. He loved taking vacations in his RV with his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

 

Family and friends of Gene are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Mass Service

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gene’s name to honor his service

for our country to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

    Sending you and all your family sympathy and wishes of comfort. Gene and Sandy are missed in so many ways. Every time I look at the harbor, their presence is with me…so many happy memories of such lovely people. I am so sorry for your loss.
