
George Burris
Beloved brother, son, and friend. Remembered for his smile, love of telling tales (truth or story) especially about his sister and his mischievousness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Burris, his sister Pamela Peters, his aunt and uncle Bette and Larry Hays, his nephews Raymond (Krista) Peters, and Jeffrey Peters and several cousins. He also leaves behind his foster family of the past 15 years Nigel and Danita Flakes, William and Matt.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Clyde Burris, his grandparents Clyde and Ellen Burris and Don and Gladys Hays, and an uncle, Steve Burris.
Growing up Phil enjoyed camping, swimming, horseback riding, boating, fishing and playing basketball. He participated in swimming in the Special Olympics. He received several awards from Therapeutic Horsemanship competitions. He loved listening to 80s hard rock/heavy metal while playing the air drums and guitar. In his adult years, Phil enjoyed volunteer work, community outings to the YMCA, the Humane Society and Petco to see the animals, apple picking, Queenie Park, bowling, going to McDonalds, Red Lobster and Applebee’s. In 2014, he was an escort for the Butterfly Dreams Pageant.
Friends and family are invited to Phil’s celebration of Life service at Dayspring Baptist Church, 1001 Municipal Drive, Town & Country, MO on January 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
