George Don Theodorakos

George Don Theodorakos

November 2, 1949 – July 15, 2025

George Don Theodorakos, beloved husband, devoted father, proud Papou, Army veteran, and a man of deep faith passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 75.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie; his brother, Don; and his parents, Jerome and Mary. He is survived by his wife, Vickie; his children: Dione (Todd), Jared (Becca), and Jason (Brooke); his nine grandchildren: Luke, Noah, Marie, Lily, Brooks, Stefi, Allie, Hylo, and Hope; and his sister, Pauline.

Born in Portage, Indiana, George was the son of Jerome and Mary Theodorakos. He grew up in modest circumstances, shaped by grit, resourcefulness, and a drive to create something better. George played multiple sports and excelled academically. Early in life, he made a decision to chart his own course—and that is exactly what he did.

George’s talent and determination earned him a football scholarship to Southwest Missouri State University, where he would graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry. It was there in college, where he met Marie, his wife of 35 years until her passing in 2005.

Upon graduating from college, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army which would lead to his young family being stationed in Panama. He often shared that it was one of the greatest honors of his life. Upon returning home, George transitioned into the corporate world and built a stellar career in the pharmaceutical industry. During the early part of his pharmaceutical career, he earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. His career took him across the country—Kentucky, Alabama, Florida, and Connecticut—before ultimately settling in St. Louis, Missouri. George and Marie built a life full of love and joy as a family. Much of their life together was centered around raising their three children: Dione, Jared, and Jason. They poured their energy into their kids and all of their activities. George was immensely proud of his children and all their accomplishments.

He coached each of his children’s little league teams and was a fixture at every game, meet, and event—whether on the baseball diamond or at a cheerleading competition. He loved being with family and took pride in creating lasting memories, whether attending their games, planning a classic “Theodorakos Vacation,” or setting up his yearly Christmas display. As a husband, father, Papou, and friend, George was always willing to listen, give advice, tell great stories, joke, and laugh together.

Later in life, his role as “Papou” to his nine grandchildren—Luke, Noah, Marie, Lily, Brooks, Stefi, Allie, Hylo, and Hope—brought him great joy. He made them laugh, made them feel special, and was always ready with a hug, a joke, or a treat.

George was fortunate to find love and companionship again with marrying Vickie in 2006. Together, they embraced life’s next chapter—traveling often, laughing freely, and soaking up the joy of shared experiences. George never needed much of a plan. If Vickie mentioned a trip, he’d already be packing the car. Even the most ordinary outings—like a quick run to Walmart—became something memorable and full of laughter when George was along for the ride. Vickie dearly misses George and will forever cherish the spontaneous adventures and the joy he brought.

George found comfort in his faith in God and often credited Vickie with helping him in his walk with Christ. Together they often took an active role in their church community and loved their Bible studies. He did his best to live a life grounded in family, generosity, and kindness toward others.

George’s life has created countless memories for those who knew him and a lasting legacy for those who loved him dearly. He will be so very missed.

A burial service will be held at Jefferson Barracks at 10:30AM on Friday, August 1st.

My Papou was the most uplifting person I’ve ever known. He was so full of life, joy, and positivity. I don’t think I ever heard him say a single negative word. His deep faith in Jesus filled him with a happiness that radiated to everyone around him. He truly was the kindest, most light-filled soul, and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him felt that warmth and joy instantly. I’m so grateful to have had him as my Papou for 20 years. It was a true gift to be loved by him.

We will always love and remember you as the best, Papou.
