
George Hayden Owens
Owens, George Hayden, 89, of St Peters, Missouri died on February 5, 2026, after a 12 year journey through the various stages of Alzheimer’s.
Hayden was born in Leavenworth, Kansas and graduated from Leavenworth High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He then continued his education at Emporia State and received his Master’s in Education from KU.
Hayden married Mary Nell Vishy on November 15, 1985. They were married 40 years.
Hayden served as an administrator and teacher in the City of St. Charles School District for 26 years before retiring to enjoy travel and great grandchildren. With a tent and camping stove, he was off to see the world. Another passion for Hayden was sports, in his early years participating in basketball, bowling and fast pitch softball. He loved to participate and coach. Hayden was very involved in St. Charles Christian Church serving in many leadership positions and helping with its transition to New Town.
Hayden is survived by his wife, Mary, and by his five children, Cheryl (Steve) Bull, Brian Owens, Kent (Vickie) Owens, Mark (Michelle) Owens, Chris (Tammy) Owens; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and his ex-wife Joan Eck.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Anna Owens, and his sisters Barbara Martin and Natalie Bidwell.

A celebration of life will be held on February 12, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Charles Christian Church, 3337 Rue Royale, St. Charles, Missouri, 63301.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate acts of kindness or a donation to your favorite charity to enable Hayden to participate in one last act of sharing.
