George Kenneth “Ken” Wessel
George Kenneth “Ken” Wessel, 84, peacefully passed away at his home on March 8,
2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Ethel Myers and George
Wessel. Ken lost his father at age four, and was raised in the Pendleton/Warrenton,
Missouri area by his mother alongside his two sisters.
Ken graduated from the University of Missouri (Mizzou) with a degree in Economics.
After which he began working at McDonnell Douglas and met his future wife, Dianne,
attending Lindenwood University. After 34 years at McDonnell Douglas, Ken embarked
on a second career as an investment broker, finishing his working days at his Edward
Jones office in St. Peters.
A devoted family man, Ken is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dianne; his daughter
Suzanne Sontag (Sean) and their children Jordan, Bailee, and Grant; and his belated
son Robert “Scott” Wessel’s children Marissa, Stephanie, Racheal, and Rex. He is also
lovingly remembered by his sister, Mary (Twiehaus). He was preceded in death by his
parents, Ethel Myers and George Wessel and sister Nancy.
Ken was active in his community and generous with his time. He volunteered with
Agape and Meals on Wheels, and his faith was deeply shaped by the College United
Methodist Church in Warrenton and the Church of the Shepherd in St. Peters. He also
cherished the fellowship and spiritual renewal he found through his Walks to Emmaus.
Outside of work and service, Ken’s passions included tennis and skiing. Tennis was his
game, and many of his fondest memories were made on the court and on the slopes
with wonderful friends over the years.
A memorial will be held Saturday, March 21 st at the Church of the Shepard in St. Peters.
Service begins at 11:00 am, with doors open at 10:00 am for visitation. (A celebration of
life will take place at the College United Methodist Church at a future date to be
determined).
