Gerald “Gerry” P. Mahoney

Gerald P. Mahoney “Gerry” of St. Louis, age 98, died peacefully at home on September 28, 2018 surrounded by the love and support of his family. Gerry was the loving husband of Patricia (McGrail) Mahoney; loving father and father-in-law of Brian Mahoney, Mimi Newsham Mahoney, Rev. Kevin Mahoney, Mary (Mahoney) and Kevin Barker, Michael Mahoney, James Mahoney, Ann Mahoney, John Mahoney and Jennifer (Strader) Mahoney, Teresa (Mahoney) and Jon Erickson; son of the later Peter and Mary (Milne) Mahoney, beloved brother of the late Genevieve Kealey, Mother Francis of Jesus and Mary, OCD, Albert, Sister Hildegarde, SC, Justin, Monica Gaffney (McCone), Fr. Ambrose SJ and Alma Mahoney; brother-in-law of Juliet (Lyons) Mahoney of Brooklyn, NY, and brother-in-law Francis McCone, Joe Gaffney; cherished grandfather of Kate (Bill), Pete (Jenni), Maggie, Emily, Ethan, Jack, Colleen, Patrick, Julia, Sean, and Beth, and great-grandfather of Betty, Nate and Nora; proud Army veteran of WWII; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews; friend and neighbor to call.

Services: Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate with the Mahoney family a memorial Mass at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 7230 Dale Avenue, Richmond Heights, MO 63117 at 11am on Thursday, October 4, 2018 with a visitation in church beginning at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Luke’s parish or to the White House Jesuit Retreat, 7400 Christopher Drive, St. Louis, MO 63129, or online at www.whretreat.org/memorial

Gerry’s warmth and optimism, his electric smile and willingness to share a tune, his fellowship with the friends of Bill W., and his quick humor will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who love him.

    Pat and Gerry were such dear friends of my parents Prudy and Vince Weber. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep all of you in my prayers. I babysat for you and have many fond memories of your wonderful family.
