Gerry Wolf

Gerry (Gerald) Wolf, age 77, of New Melle MO , passed away on 04/06/2026 from Stage 4 Melanoma.

Gerald “Gerry” Lee Wolf, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unwavering honesty. Born in Bucyrus, Ohio, Gerry most recently made his home in New Melle, Missouri, where he built a life centered on family, friendships, and the simple joys he cherished most.

Gerry was a man who truly never met a stranger. He loved being around people—whether family, friends, or someone he had just met—and his welcoming spirit made everyone feel at ease. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the center of his world.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Gerry had a deep love for baseball, particularly Cardinal baseball. His own talent on the field was remarkable—he played throughout his school years and in recreational leagues for much of his life. A gifted pitcher, he even earned a walk-on tryout with the Twins, who recognized his ability. Though life took him in a different direction, his passion for the game never faded. In recognition of his talent and dedication, Gerry was inducted into the Francis Howell Baseball Hall of Fame.

Gerry attended Francis Howell High School, where he not only excelled in athletics but also explored his musical side. He played the saxophone and tried playing the guitar, and even tried his hand at the Native American flute. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially the sounds of the 1960s and 1970s. In his free time, Gerry found joy in a variety of hobbies including golf, grilling, fishing, hunting, trap shooting, and woodworking. He loved good food—especially fried chicken and braunschweiger—and truly enjoyed gathering around a table with others.

Known for his remarkable honesty, Gerry’s “superpower” was his inability to tell a lie. If entrusted with a secret, he would keep it completely—so much so that he wouldn’t even share it with his wife. His integrity and straightforward nature earned him the respect and trust of all who knew him. Gerry also had military service during the 1970’s. He was stationed near Stugart, Germany.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Lufitz) Wolf, and his sister, Jeanne Delgman. He is survived by his loving children, Sandi Holman (George) and Jackie Speckert (Bill); his siblings, Judy Crosno (Jerry), and Jack Wolf (Tammy); as well as 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren with one more on the way, numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family members and dear friends. He is survived by Sharon (Easley) Wolf, Sandi (Wolf) Holman (Daughter) and her husband George, Jackie (Wolf) Speckert (Daughter) and her husband Bill.

Gerry will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of life, and the countless memories he created with those around him. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the family he loved so deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Gerry by spending time with loved ones, sharing a good meal, or enjoying the outdoors—just as he would have wanted.
