Gigi Pinnell Stowe
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Dr. Gigi Pinnell Stowe, a cherished grandmother (“Nana”),
mother and friend, who passed away on February 8, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri. Gigi departed peacefully, with her adoring family by her side, leaving behind a legacy of love,
generosity, and joy.
Gigi was born to Dr. George and Dot Pinnell, and grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where she attended University High School. It was during high school when she first established a remarkable ability to form lifelong friendships. People were naturally drawn to Gigi’s intellect, charm, and compassion. Gigi attended Indiana University and was a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Gigi was insatiably curious and loved to travel so following college she joined Pan American Airlines as a flight attendant. She visited countries all over the world, creating more memories and lifetime friendships. Later, Gigi earned her PhD in Psychology and went on to improve the lives of countless people with her compassion and guidance as a psychologist. She lived in many places, including Virginia and California, but Bloomington was always close to her heart, and her second home was her beloved Sanibel Island.
Gigi strove to live a life full of meaning and purpose and approached every day as an
opportunity to do so. Between her accomplishments, relationships, and impact, her family and
friends proudly state that she succeeded spectacularly and leaves the world truly a better place.
She is survived by her son Derick (Kate), daughter Lindsay (John), and four cherished
grandchildren, Annabel, Graham, Georgia, and Josephine. Both Graham and Georgia are named
in Gigi’s honor.
Gigi will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, generosity, incredible sense of humor and
ability to make everyone around her feel special and valued. Her love will continue to guide us,
her wisdom will continue to inspire us, and her memory will forever be cherished. She will be
profoundly missed.
“Mom, you are forever giving, forever caring, forever loving, forever loved.”
Donations in Gigi’s honor can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
