Gladys R. Hackmann
Gladys Hackmann (nee Prinster) of St. Ann, Missouri, passed away on Monday, June 8 th, 2020, at the age of 93.
Beloved wife of the late Clarence Hackmann, devoted mother of Don (Dianne), Sharon (Bill) and Dale; loving grandmother of Erik (Felicia), Chris (Amy), Amy (Tim), Greg and Tim (Shujin); treasured great-grandmother of Paxton, Kaitlyn, Merritt, and Elizabeth; step great-grandmother of Austin and Addy, sister of Elvira “Tootsie” (Alfred, deceased) Wortmann, and sister-in-law of Laverne (Maurice, deceased) Plackemeier. Gladys was preceded in death by her brother Melvin (Elda) and her sisters, Laverne (Jim) and Estelle (Bill), parents Bernard and Clara Prinster, and stepmother Berenice Prinster.
Gladys grew up in O’Fallon, Missouri, and moved to St. Louis after she graduated from High School in 1945. She was a devout Catholic and belonged to St. Gregory/Holy Trinity Parish for 65 years. She worked at Watlow Electric for 15 years before her retirement in 1992. She had a passion for flowers and was an animal lover. Gladys was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial Mass and a celebration of Gladys’ life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Gladys was a terrific neighbor to my mom. Both of them loved to talk and I always loved listening to Gladys’ stories. She loved her family very much and would love to talk about them. She was going to be one of my first visits when all this virus stuff was over and it was safe to mingle. I will miss her.
