Gladys “Peg” Wintz

Gladys “Peg” Wintz, 91, of Waterloo, Iowa, died in St. Louis on Sunday, January 21.

She was born Sept. 29, 1932, in Butler County, Iowa, daughter of Everett and Grace Burma. She married Bert Wintz on Oct. 15, 1952, at Washington Reformed Church, rural Ackley, Iowa.

Peg worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s construction company, Winmor Construction. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, playing bridge, volunteering, doing arts and crafts, spending time with family and friends, and shopping.

Survived by: a daughter, Melody (Brian) Wintz-Hostetler of St. Louis; a son, Mike (Sue) Wintz of Mesa, AZ; two grandchildren, Lili Hostetler, and Matt (Amelia) Wintz; and two great- granddaughters, Aurelia and Cora Wintz.

Preceded in death by: her husband, Bert; her granddaughter, Sarah Wintz; her sisters, Avonelle (George) Bohner, JoAnn (John) Kramer, Anna Mae (Bill) Koop, and Phyllis (Frederick) Schachterle; and her brother, Harold Burma.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Waterloo, Iowa.

Memorials: may be directed to P.E.O., Pathways Hospice of Chesterfield, MO or Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Washington University in St. Louis.

    Peg was a delightful lady. We were neighbors and church goers together. So sorry to hear of her passing.
