Glen Hartig
September 29th, 1939 – May 3rd, 2026
Glen Hartig passed away on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 at deGreeff Hospice Center. Glen was born and raised in South St. Louis, where he attended Cleveland High School. He then began a 6 year apprenticeship at The Sporting News. From there he went to the Post Dispatch where he worked for almost 35 years.
Glen was a founding member of the Affton Elks lodge and served as Exalted Ruler at the Ste. Genevieve Lodge, which had about 400 members at the time. He was an outgoing and friendly guy and everyone who met him liked him. Wherever we went he ran into someone he knew. I would sometimes ask him why he didn’t introduce me and he’d say, “I don’t remember his or her name.”
He loved to fish and golf and got his fill when we moved to Lake Forest Estates in Ste. Genevieve where we lived for about 15 years. He loved taking our guests around the lake in our pontoon boat. He joined the Country Club where he could play golf as often as he liked (and he ‘liked’ a lot).
We liked to travel; his favorite spots were Italy and Ireland. Glen is survived by his wife Kathy, son Mark (Lori) Hartig and daughter Laura (Ron) Hogland.
