Gloria Jean Leitschuh

Gloria Jean. Leitschuh (78) passed from this life on June 19, 2019 on hospice at her home in St. Louis with her children, Michael and Gloria at her side. She was born in Los Angeles, California on January 25, 1941. She married Anthony Lee Leitschuh on June 29, 1957 at St. Aloysius Church in Litchfield, Illinois. They initially resided in Litchfield Illinois before moving to Morrisonville, Illinois where they owned and operated an automotive garage for 40 years.

While in Morrisonville, she was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, the Alter and Rosary Society, and was involved in Koinonia retreats serving as director when called upon. She later moved to St. Louis, Missouri to be near her grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her children, Michael Anthony Leitschuh and his partner Tom Walden of St. Louis and Gloria A. Leitschuh and her partner Annette Becherer of Ashmore, Illinois, her grandchildren, Mitchell L. Leitschuh and his partner Merrill Arens, of New York City, and Margo M. Leitschuh and her partner Bradley Gleason of Columbia, Missouri. Her sister Barbara Black,
Ocean Side California also survives. She has extended family and many nieces and nephews in Litchfield and Staunton, Illinois area as well as in Southern California. Her parents Tressie N. Dorgan (Hamptom), and Virgil Gray of Burney, California and a sister, Glenda L. Dworschak of Los Angeles proceeded her in death. Lou Dorgan, her beloved step-father also proceeded her
in death Gloria had served in many capacities, most notably as a volunteer at the Jacksonville Mental Health Center, as a counselor at Rape Information and Counseling Services (RICKS) in Springfield and as a Manager at Parkview Towers in University City, Missouri.

Gloria loved the Beach and the water. She enjoyed water skiing, dancing, singing, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She loved to tell a good story and was the life of the party. She loved and cared for her Chihuahua, Bambi. She was also a very spiritual person and had a deep and abiding faith. She was a generous and dependable friend and mother. Her declining health in later years prevented her from many of the activities that she loved, however she had the assistance of a trusted caretaker, Arnetta Lindsay and a devoted family member, Tom Walden.


A celebration of her life and memorial mass will be held at

The Church of the Holy Family in Litchfield, Illinois on July 20, 2019.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Memorial Celebration and

Mass will begin at 11:00 A.M. A Luncheon will follow the services.

    Mike , Gloria and to the whole Leitschuh family . I’m so sorry for your loss . I remember your mom and mostly remember just how beautiful she was . Now I know how Mike got his funny personality . I will be praying for all the family members . Sounds like she had a wonderful life and I’m sure she is making people in heaven smile .
