Gloria M. Bardol

Gloria M. Bardol (nee Schmidt), 83, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael D. Bardol for 61 years. She was the loving mother / mother-in-law of Michele (Ed) Melton, Tom (Teresia) Bardol, Linda (Mickey Chervitz) Bardol, Chris (Sue) Bardol. She was the dear grandmother of Sara Melton, Katie Laurentius (nee Melton), Jenifer Pearson (nee Bardol), Ryan Bardol, Lauren Bardol, Michael Bardol and Brittany Bardol. She was the dear great-grand mother to Alex and Samantha Stumpf, Brayden Larkin, Arabella and Audrey Bardol and McKenzie Biggs. She was a loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Middle child of Fred and Hilda Schmidt (nee Herman) she was born on November 24, 1934. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald (Shirley) Schmidt and sister Carol (Robert) Hennicke. After marrying Mick, they had four children that she was extremely proud of. After all four kids were in school she took a part time job at Pohl & King Monument Company making sure she was always home when the kids were. Later she went to work for BJC at Village North where she retired at 65. Then she became a ‘sample lady’ first at Dierbergs and then Costco. Gloria was a master at ‘making ends meet’. She’d check out all the grocery ads and make her shopping lists on Thursday evening and hit all the grocery stores on Friday. She was an avid sewer and would drag her kids to the material stores to look at patterns and material – much to their dismay. Once Riverboat gambling was legalized she enjoyed going to the boats and playing slots. Gloria was always doing something, rarely sitting and relaxing. She took up stained glass, knitting, gardening, shopping, etc. Her love of coats, shoes and boots was very evident when she moved from her home into Breeze Park Independent Living Community last November. At Breeze Park she made friends quickly and enjoyed playing bingo and cards.

Gloria had the most beautiful eyes, an infectious smile and never met a stranger. She was a friend and neighbor to all. She was the kindest, sweetest person you’d ever want to meet. She lived and loved life to its fullest. She will be deeply missed.

“Hallelujah! You were an angel in the shape of our Mom. You got to see the people we’ve become. Spread your wings and we know that when God took you back he said Hallelujah! You’re home…”
