Gloria Van Dover

Gloria Jeanna Van Dover, nee Fahrenkamp, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on June 12, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born in St. Louis, Mo. on July 21,1938, daughter of the late Walter and Agnes Fahrenkamp. Predeceased by husband, Donald Van Dover

Lovingly remembered by daughter, Victoria Van Dover Whiting and former son-in-law Allen Whiting, grandchildren, Alexandra and Hudson Whiting, and sister Patricia Burke and partner Barney Schulte. Her memory lives on with her sister-in-law Linda Van Dover and her many adoring nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Gloria currently enjoyed working in the Deli at Dierbergs Market, Des Peres, where she was loved by many. Prior to that, she worked with Dolnick’s Furniture companies, where she was like family. Gloria was a long-time member of ESA, an international leadership and service organization, with the chapter Delta Tau. She and her sorority sisters were involved in wonderful community service and charitable giving, led with love and life-long friendships.

Gloria loved spending time with her two grandchildren, two granddogs, her many nieces, nephews and all of their families. She loved gardening, gourmet cooking and baking, including, but not limited to, her thousands of gorgeous cookies at Christmastime. Gloria loved baseball, knew all of the players and stats and rarely was known to miss a St. Louis Cardinals game. She was indeed one of their biggest fans!

Gloria was the most loving, generous, caring and strong woman anyone could have had the privilege of knowing. We are all better because of her. She will be greatly missed by the numerous people and family whose lives and hearts she touched forever.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

I will never forget the wonderful Thanksgiving gatherings. An amazing host and cook. She took care of everything which was just one of the many ways she showed her love for family.

And, ah, yes!! The Christmas cookies. I’ll never forget one Christmas Eve, offering to take the Christmas cookies from the car to the kitchen. She said ok, but don’t drop them. Of course, as she is following me in, I got to the kitchen and accidentally dropped them.

They still tasted great! Just looked a little different, plus we had more now.

I remember lovely Aunt Gloria with Uncle Don and the Vance’s (mostaccioli pasta) at our 4th of July cookouts at Grandma’s house in Valley Park MO. She was so gracious. Her memory does indeed live on. Love to you, Tori.
