Gretchen Dorothea Piccozzi

Gretchen Dorothea Piccozzi (Klein) was born on January 24, 1938.  She left this world peacefully on December 9, 2021.

Gretchen is pre-deceased by her parents Dorothea Diane and George Klein, and her late husband John A. Piccozzi.   Loved dearly by her three children, Amy (Paul), Christopher (Michele), James (Debbie). Lovingly known as “Nana” to her seven grandchildren: Natasha D’Agrosa, Paul A. D’Agrosa, Ana D’Agrosa, Sophia D’Agrosa, Zachary (Anca) Piccozzi, Joshua, and Matthew Piccozzi.

Mom traveled the world from a young age and had many adventures living in Japan, Belgium, and Madrid.  She attended Marymount University in Rochester New York where she completed her Bachelors in Art and education.    She was a flight attendant for TWA and later became a preschool teacher at Hastings School in Madrid, Spain.  She retired from teaching in Madrid in 2002 and moved to St. Louis to live close to her children and grandchildren.   During this time, she worked in the Foster Grandparent program in St. Louis.  Mom loved art, enjoyed painting, and taking art classes. Mom lived a life steeped in deep faith and devotion to Mother Mary.  She faithfully prayed the rosary and loved sharing stories with her grandchildren.  She prayed for everyone she knew. She was a devoted Daughter, Mother, and Grandmother, and a loving, caring, kind, generous soul to all who met her.
