Martin Edward Gruettemeyer Sr. February 3, 1934 – December 1, 2019

Martin Edward Gruettemeyer Sr.,fortified with sacraments of Holy Mother Church passed on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 1 day surrounded by Family and loved ones. He was preceded by his beloved wife Charlotte Ann (Spalding) Gruettemeyer. He was a Loving father to Linda Ann (John) Schiermeyer, Patty Ann (Keith) Wiley, Mary Ann (the late Kevin) Kimbrell, Jo Ann (fiancée Richard Fillman) Biggs and Martin (Desiree) Gruettemeyer, II. A Dear grandfather to; Lynn (Tim) Seibe, Jeremy (Patty) Schiermeyer, Robert (Sam), Patrick (Becky), late Jacob, and Nathan Wiley, Jessy (Joseph) Hensley, Colin, Sean (Katie), Brandon (significant other Jessica), Devin (Amanda), Meaghan (fiancée Pierre), Kaitlin (fiancée Nathan), Jillian, Ian and Erin Kimbrell, late Joseph, Brad (Megan), Sarah, Dan and Brian Biggs, Embree and Garrett Gruettemeyer. A Great-grandfather to; Logan, Avery, Anna, Jacob, Skye, Layla, Adian, Myra, Hudson, Ava, Coda, Maeve, Winfield, Maddy, Kevin, Rhea, Charlie, JJ and counting.

Martin is survived by his Aunt Delores (Gruettemeyer) Livingston. He was a beloved brother and brother-in-law to Carl (Shirley), late Art (late Marilyn), late Dorothy (Mike) Jones, George, Rick (Paula), late Leonard (late Mary) Spalding, late Bob (late Evelyn) Spalding, late Walter (late Dorothy) Spalding, late Lucille Korte, late Jean (late Hawley) Sullivan, Mary Joan (late Louis) Betle, and late Jim (M.J./Margaret) Spalding, uncle, nephew, cousin, godfather and friend to many.

Martin was a devote Roman Catholic. Martin proudly served his country in the United States Navy and after his honorable discharge he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Commerce with Major in Accounting from St Louis University using the GI bill he earned from the military. He went on and earned a Master of Science in Commerce with Major in Finance and Minor in Accounting from St Louis University. Martin then obtained his Certified Public Accounting designation. Martin donated his body for education and research to St Louis University.

Martin was a hard working professional and obtained many credentials and awards within his profession, he was well respected by his colleagues, clients and associates. Martin was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows as his Grandfather, Father and Uncle before him. He was a dedicated man to his family and was there with a helping hand anytime he saw a need or was asked for help. He will be deeply missed.

A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at 11 am, at Holy Infant Catholic Church at 627 Dennison Drive, Ballwin, MO 63021 with a visitation and luncheon to follow in the Upper Cafeteria on premise.
