I’m so sorry to hear of Halley’s passing. She was such a sweet and wonderful girl.

I met her about 12 years ago when I was bartending at Par Lounge. She would stop by after her shift at Duffys. I always looked forward to her visits because she was so easy to talk to and she tipped so well! Everyone who knew Halley at the bar loved her. My favorite memory is when she shut Jim Edmonds down! A newly divorced Jimmy Baseball was at the bar having a drink with friend when Halley walked in. When he noticed that I knew her, he asked about her- is she single/can I buy her a drink sort of questions. When I relayed the info to her, she sort of half giggled and rolled her eyes. Being a beautiful girl, I have no doubt she was used to this sort of attention. When he persisted, she gave him a look and just said, “Umm no,” and she went right back to drinking her beer. It was refreshing to see a guy who thought he was big stuff be shut down by her. No matter what sort of night she had, she always came in with a smile and ease about her. She was just so easy going.

Even after leaving the restaurant/bar world, my husband and I would make it a point to visit her occasionally at Duffy’s. She always had the warmest smile and it would be like no time passed.

I’m deeply sorry for the loss of Halley. I only have the best memories of this beautiful girl. ♥️

Living next door to Halley was joyful and memorable time….I remember being outside working and hearing Halley say hi uncle john and replying hi Halley girl when we seen each other…seeing her having tea with her imaginary friends…singing “its a small world” playing with the innocents of a child…and seeing a big smile on her face when aunt Cheryl would say hi Holly hop she would smile,smile,smile..I will always cherish that time in my life living next door to Halley…..I Remember Halley

I cannot imagine how Ralph, Ellen. And the rest of you feel, as everyone that met Halley is devasted by this news. I’m so sorry. I have so many memories with your beautiful girl. I love the way she hailed a cab, the flip of her hair and her arm waving up, and then poof, Halley was gone for the night. I loved getting ready in her room where she introduced me to The Head and the Heart and Arcade Fire, and then we’d go see them in concert because we just felt so connected to the words of the songs. I love how she’d dance just a little once we were in the center of the crowd. I loved how she’d curl up at the end of the night when she was tired at the end of the night no matter where we were. I loved how when I’d spend the night she’d say “I had my mom get you some boca burgers if you’re hungry, how she interacted with her pets, and how much her parents loved her even though I only saw a few brief interactions. Til we meet again. I love you Halley Devine, you loved your last name so much. Because it is you, Devine.

I worked with Halley for around 12 years. She was just a baby even she started and I felt so protective of her. She called me momma Mary. She had a sweet innocence about her and was always the center of any group because she was so bubbly, funny, and of course beautiful. She was and will always be a bright spot in my life. My heart goes out to her family, I know it will be an extremely difficult journey you are facing. All my love. Mary

My first job was a host at Mike Duffys and I remember feeling so cool that my cousin Halley was the bar tender there and that I got to work beside her! I’m so thankful for those few years I got to work with her and talk to her. She was always so kind, sweet and had a beautiful smile! I always remember thinking how beautiful she was. She will be truly missed. Keeping her whole family in my thoughts and prayers. 💖

I never had the honor of meeting Halley Devine. I hurt and identify with the loss and grief Bubby and Ellen are experiencing. I know Halley’s mom and dad well and know both of them as two of the kindest , considerate , most generous People God has created . I will always fondly recall Bubbys generosity and considerate spirit when I was a struggling teacher in St. Louis in the middle 1970s. Our Creator will make a way for Bubby, Ellen and family, even at times as these, when there seems to be no way. I have talked to many on how Halley was a light source , a beacon of joy , kindness, respectful and dignified all who knew Halley. I believe Shakespeare described Halley in his writings when he wrote” For when she shall die , take and cut her out into the stars and Halley will make the face of Heaven so bright , that all the world will be in live with night, and pay no worship to the wandering sun”

As it was shared with me, we are all here on loan from God… Bubby and Ellen, God picked you and privileged you both to be Halley’s parents. To nurture her, teach her, and raise and enjoy her till God called for her back. Till you meet again, may God give you strength and love…

My fondest memory of Haley was when I was doing concrete & drywall work for her uncle Johnny and she was just a little girl. She would come down to hang out with Sheryl, (I know I spelled that wrong) and then make her way to where ever we were working. It was nonstop questions about what we were doing and next thing you know Johnny and I were talking like five–year-olds but she understood.
Then later Bubby wanted me to pour a driveway for him so I started that job. She would be up bright and early every day when I showed up (bout noon) and start with the questions! So I realized I had to put her to work! Now I’m talking like a six-year-old!! I had her move a few rocks around, rake some gravel till she popped herself in the nose with the handle ( l prayed she wouldn’t cry and she didn’t!) so I had her hand me nails. She knew when I was finishing the job and one of the last things I remember her telling me was that she liked my eye balls!
At that moment I knew she liked me more than Uncle John!
RIP Halley! I love you more than you’ll ever know!!!

I was just getting to know this magnificent young lady. I grieve for the entire Devine family, especially Ellen and Bubby. Whenever I saw Halley I thought I was still part of the wonderful Devine family. Thanks for the brief time you graced my life. Love and hugs to the family.

I remember the Duffy’s family of the early 2000’s when Halley was hired as a hostess at age 15. We all took her in as a little sister and all looked out for her. She was always a bright light and constant source of happiness, laughter, and joy. My deepest condolences to everyone who loved her and were privileged to have her as family and friend. ❤️

I grew up with Halley, we went to grade school (K-8) together. There was a group of 4 of us girlfriends that were close. She always was the first to show us how to do any “girl stuff” because she had an older sister: make up, new music, etc. She was so happy to share everything. I was such a shy kid and she was so sweet about being my friend and including me. I remember countless slumber parties and watching Titanic a million times on her big screen TV. My love goes out to the family and everyone affected.

Halley was so darn cute as a little girl, and she grew to be a beautiful young woman. I remember her as a little girl stating her name as Halley McTheresa Devine. I’m not sure where the “Mc” came from, but it was so cute to hear her say it.

Before she could pronounce her r’s, she called me Clay-o. I’ll never forget the family party, where I brought Buffalo chicken wings. Halley ate too many and got sick and had to leave the party early. She left all mad and frumpy stating “it was all Clay-O’s fault!” We still laugh about that today.

I’ll miss your beautiful soul, Halley McTheresa Devine! I’ll never forget you! 💕. Love from your Aunt Clay-o.
