Irving H. Krumrey, 98, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. Born July 25, 1920, in Grayslake, Illinois, he was a son of the late Martha (nee Kuse) and Henry Krumrey.

In World War II, Irv served as a navigator on a B-29 in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific. In 1944 he married the love of his life, Virginia Myers, whom he had met at the FBI in Washington, D.C., where they both worked. They settled in Libertyville, Illinois, where he worked at the Frank G. Hough Company (later International Harvester), starting as a welder’s assistant and rising to Material Controller in a few years.

He retired from International Harvester in 1976 and never looked back. A talented athlete, he enjoyed a life of fishing, boating, and golfing in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He and Virginia enjoyed the outdoors and traveled widely. It was his great pleasure to entertain friends and family on Greers Ferry Lake for more than 30 years.

Irv is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Virginia, his son James (Sandy) Krumrey, daughters Diane (Eric Lubell) Krumrey and Debra (Fred) Meuter; grandchildren Kathy, Ami, Joe, Elizabeth, Jamie, Chloë, April, Claire, and David; and great-grandchildren Megan, Kayla, Abby, and Laszlo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Krumrey, brothers Edward (Bertha) and Walter Krumrey.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 1^st at 1:00 pm in the chapel at Meridian Village, 101 Evergreen Dr., Glen Carbon, Illinois. Memorials in Irv’s honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the donor’s choice.
