Jacob Tanner Hagelstein

Jacob Tanner Hagelstein passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on June 18,
2022. He was 27 years old. Jacob was born on February 2, 1995 to Edward Kirk Jr and
Cara M Hagelstein (Stennett) at St Mary’s Hospital, Richmond Heights, MO. Jacob is
survived by his parents, his brother, Josh Hagelstein and sisters, Monica Hagelstein and
Megan Hagelstein (Ryan Watkins). He is also survived by grandparents, Barbara
Hagelstein, John and Janet Stennett and Betty Stennett; many uncles and aunts,
cousins, a multitude of friends both locally and online, and the family pets Belle and
Maverick. Jacob was preceded in death by his PaPa Edward K Hagelstein Sr., his uncle
Craig Heuer, and pets Spike and Aspen.

Jacob was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in 2012. Despite his condition, and
the challenges he faced, he always had a positive outlook on life and lived each day in a
positive way. Jacob was a friend to everyone, very kind, gentle, empathetic, loyal, and
would help anyone in any way he could. Many referred to Jacob as a “Gentle Giant.” His
family referred to him as Jake or Jakey. He was never afraid to say “I love you” and he
said it every day. His parents, siblings and family feel truly privileged to have been
blessed with him, to love and care for him for the time we had with him. Jacob will be
greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jacob loved History. He was especially knowledgeable in Civil War and World War II.
Jacob was an avid gamer. He loved online games and board games. He especially
loved when his friends could get together for a great game. Jacob also loved animals of
all kinds and treated them with great kindness, love and care.

Jacob will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family requests that anyone who would want to make a donation on his behalf to
please make them to the American Heart Association or to the Open Door Animal
Sanctuary in House Springs, MO.
