Jacqueline Rose “Jackie” Schulte (nee Feigenbutz), 87, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Dutchtown Care Center in St. Louis, after a battle with dementia, diabetes, and other ailments of old age.

Jackie was born in St. Louis on February 7, 1930, to the late Corrine Feigenbutz (nee Perry) and the late Joseph Feigenbutz. She attended grade school at St. Cecilia and later St. Boniface. She attended Notre Dame High School, where she graduated number one in her class in 1948. She was awarded a full scholarship to college, but elected to enter the workforce. She worked several jobs in St. Louis and in the Trenton, New Jersey area over the years, including clerical positions at Graham Paper Company, Sinclair & Rush, Waterbury Products and other companies. She also worked part time as an usher at Powell Symphony Hall. She was last employed at Southwestern Bell, where she worked as a proofreader and retired in 1995.

Jackie married the late Benjamin Lee Schulte in 1951 and they had five children together. She is survived by her sons, Benjamin Lee “Barney” Schulte, Jr. (Pat) and Paul James Schulte, her daughter Michaeline Emily “Mickie” Wood, her daughter in law, Donna Marie Schulte, her brother in law, Bill Olliges, and her dear friend Sharon DeLoach. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael Thomas Wood (Paula), Melissa Kaye Eversmann (Matt), Christopher Perry Schulte, Jr. (Lori), Benjamin Daniel Schulte, Margaret Rose “Maggie” Schulte and J. Henry Schulte, along with her great grandchildren: Nickolas and Angelica Jones, Michael, Oscar and Gretchen Wood, Adelaide, Bennett and Colby Eversmann, and Sean and Brenden Kehoe.

Jackie is predeceased by her parents, her brother Michael Jerome “Sonny” Kraisser, her sister Joann Evelyn Olliges (Bill), her husband Ben, her son Christopher Perry Schulte (Donna), her daughter Jacqueline Rose Schulte, her granddaughter Shelia Jones (Gary) and her lifelong friend Betty Ann Moellenberg (nee Oldenburg).

Other than a brief period living in New Jersey, Jackie spent most of her life in the Carondelet area of St. Louis, where she and her sister Joann grew up and where she raised all of her children. Jackie loved spending time with her family, reading (especially National Geographic), traveling, eating out, and watching cable television. She also loved animals and devoted much time to feeding and taking in stray cats in the neighborhood.

Jackie’s family would like to thank the team from Unity Hospice for the care they provided during the last six months.

Jackie did not want to be embalmed and put on display at a funeral home. She chose to have a simple cremation and her family is honoring her wishes. A memorial gathering will be held at St. Louis Cremation on Tuesday, August 15^th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
