Jacqueline Rose Stauffer

Jacqueline Rose Stauffer (nee Mick) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 22, 2023 at the age of 89. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Stauffer; parents Clarence G. Mick and Rose A. Mick (nee Rodebaugh); and brother, John Mick.
She is survived by her children: Donald (Donna) Stauffer, Susan Glover, Chris (Joanne) Stauffer, Caroline (Joe) Villanueva; her grandchildren: Thomas (Ana) Stauffer, Brian Stauffer, Dustin Glover, Lauren (Sean) Thuston, Theodore Stauffer, Luke Stauffer, Jack Villanueva, Benjamin Villanueva, Samuel Villanueva; her great-grandchildren: Liam Thuston, Finn Thuston, and Kian Thuston; and her siblings: Joyce Madigan, Mary McDermott, and Robert Mick.Lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors as a strong but caring woman who took interest in the worries of those around her and prayed for their resolve, and who put her love of family above all else.
She graduated from Laboure High School in 1952 and later became a nurse in 1979, working as a LPN for nearly 20 years at Mercy Hospital (formerly St. John’s Hospital) in Creve Coeur, Mo. She was an active fundraiser for the American Cancer Society in the 1970s-80s, and acted as a part-time caregiver for her grandchildren upon retirement. A lover of big band music, she also enjoyed more contemporary songs from Lionel Richie and Rod Stewart. Recent hobbies included word search puzzles, reading Nicholas Sparks romance novels, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. She was the rock of her family and is sorely missed.Services: A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, 11011 Mueller Rd. in South St. Louis County, on Saturday, March 11, 2023. A luncheon and celebration of life gathering for family and close friends will immediately follow.In lieu of flowers: Donations to the American Cancer Society or Autism Speaks is greatly appreciated.
