James A. Barry

November 28, 1957 ~ August 17, 2019

A much-loved husband, father (stepfather), grandfather, son, and brother. James Andrew Barry, known to friends as “Jim”, passed away peacefully at his home on August 17, 2019, at the age of 61 and three-quarters. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. Jim was born November 28, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri, and resided in Ballwin, Missouri for the past 15 years. He was a 1976 graduate of Lafayette High School and was a member of the IBEW (local 1) for 40 years.

Jim enjoyed traveling, days at the gun range, short rides on the Harley, and the great outdoors. He was an animal lover of all kinds and adored feeding his “pet” deer. Jim was a soft-spoken man that valued his privacy, yet cared for everyone close to him with all of his heart and would do anything for a loved one in need.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lorisue Barry; son Shawn M Barry; daughter Sheena Harrell and husband Cory; stepdaughter Adrian H Cardwell; stepson Colin S Self; grandsons Cody and Landon; granddaughter McKenzie; mother Elizabeth Barry; brothers Kevin and Kelly; sisters Janice Doherty, Karen Todd and husband Barry; preceded in death by his father Andrew. Jim cherished his puppy Chloe and his grand pups; Vanna Faye and Wiggly. He leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

-Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear-

Baby you are missed so much, I feel your presence with me everyday. I have talked to you in hope that you can hear me. In your words… “Your crazy and my crazy just works”. You will be with me the rest of my days here on earth. I will be with you again. Her is a poem I read to Jim that we found humorous. I have hope that he found heaven and grandma Rankin waiting for him.

    I was shocked, confused, bewildered
    As I entered Heaven’s door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp–
The Garden Club Gossips, the thieves
    The liars and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
    Who never said anything nice.

    Bob, who I always thought
    Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
    Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, ‘What’s the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How’d all these sinners get up here?
    God must’ve made a mistake.

‘And why is everyone so quiet,
So somber – give me a clue.’
    ‘Hush, child,’ He said,
    ‘they’re all in shock.
No one thought they’d be seeing you.’

    JUDGE NOT
