James Alan Doll, of St. Louis, MO passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026 at the age of 62.

Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his loving spouse, Melissa, son Tyler, siblings Steve (Janet) Doll, Ron (Marianne) Doll, Janice Morand (Larry), Janet Doll, Susan Doll and sister-in-law Becky Doll, and many nieces, nephews and friends who will forever remember and love him. Jim was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary, and his brother Bob.

Jim was a hardworking man who took great pride in his career in petroleum maintenance. He was a member of Local 562, Plumbers and Pipefitters, and worked at Superior Equipment Company and Neumayer Equipment Company where he built lasting friendships and was respected for his dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to his craft.

A true naturalist at heart, Jim found some of his greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or tending to the plants in his yard, he was happiest surrounded by nature. He had a genuine appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors and took great pride in caring for his yard and watching things grow.

He also loved to cook and was especially known for his amazing BBQ. Sharing good food with the people he loved was one of the ways he showed how much he cared. There was always room for one more, and many wonderful memories were made gathered around the table.

A sports enthusiast, Jim enjoyed golfing with his buddies and cheering on his favorite St. Louis teams. He loved watching the Blues, St. Louis City SC, and the Cardinals, always ready to celebrate a win, or share his thoughts when things didn’t go quite as planned.

Above all else, Jim was a family man. His family always came first, and he would do anything for the people he loved. He was the person they could count on, the one who was always there, always willing to lend a hand, and never hesitated to help anyone at any time.

He especially cherished the time he spent with his son, Tyler. Whether they were simply hanging out together, attending soccer games his son was playing or coaching, he loved being involved and supporting him every step of the way. If he could not be at the game, watching on tv or following the stats on his phone was ok as he was just as invested. Being there for his son and sharing moments together brought him tremendous joy and was one of the greatest gifts in his life.

Jim had a special love for his nieces and nephews and took great joy in being a part of their lives. He was also loved by the neighborhood kids. They all knew they could count on him for a smile, a helping hand, and, of course, one of his famous dad jokes. His sense of humor was a big part of who he was. Whether the jokes were actually funny or so bad they were funny, he always delivered them with a grin. Those little moments of laughter will be among the memories his loved ones treasure most.

Jim never met a stranger. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others made him someone people could always turn to. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, whether they were family, a longtime friend, a neighbor, or someone he had just met. If someone needed help, he was there, no questions asked.

Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, the meals he cooked, the games he watched, and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later time.
