James Edward Fagyal
James Edward Fagyal, 76, died Monday, October 5, 2020 at DePaul Hospital. Jim was a committed husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, and brother. He loved fishing, hunting, and cooking for his family. He quickly earned and rightly deserved the respect and appreciation of those he met, supervised and served through his long career in law enforcement.
Jim was born on February 29, 1944, in St. Louis, to Alice and Stephen. Survivors include his beloved wife of 35 years, Nancy; one son, Andrew and wife Kate; one granddaughter, Josephine; and two nieces, Angela and husband Joseph and Grace and husband Stanley. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daniel; his brother, Dean; and his sister, Audrey.
Due to COVID-19, a service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Lung Association: https://www.lung.org/

Uncle Jim will be deeply missed by our family.
Continued prayers for you Nancy, Andy and Kate.
My sincere sympathy to Nancy and all the family.
My deepest sympathy for your loss. Jim was kind and genuinely interested in others.
Jim was my training officer in 1978 when I started on the PD. We had some really fun and great times and some scary moments too. He gave me the basics I needed to be a good and respectful cop. I left the PD in 1985 and regret not keeping in touch. My heart felt sympathy to the family.
So sorry Nancy and Andy. We loved Jim!
I met Jim when I was hired at the Police Department, in 1976. I was put on the same squad and have many, many memories from that. He was later promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and I again worked with him on his squad. Police work was difficult at times but my gosh, we had some fun times working together. He loved to fish and went with our squad on a fishing trip to Clearwater Lake in southern Missouri. I think he was the only one to catch any. We worked together until he retired. We had many long conversations covering everything from fishing, to hunting, to scouting and more. Very sad to hear this news. My thoughts are with his family.
