James “Jim” Brady
James W. Brady, “Jim” to most, the beloved “Coach” of many and lovingly known as “Diamond” by his South City family passed away on November 23, 2017, at the age of 67 after a brief battle with cancer.
Jim will forever be remembered by his sons, Kyle and Tyler (Caroline), his granddaughter Maren, his parents Jane and the late Thomas Brady and by his brothers and sisters Lynn, Tim, Tom (Sharon), and Maureen. Jim will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, players, coaches and even umpires.
Jim was a graduate of both Bishop DuBourg High School and Southwest Missouri State, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a teacher and a coach. He was inducted into the DuBourg and St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. Jim was entering his 33rd season as the UMSL head baseball coach, a program that he loved and dedicated his life toward improving.
A Mass will be celebrated in memory of Jim on Saturday, December 2, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Gabriel’s Church, 6303 Nottingham, St. Louis, MO 63109, with a remembrance celebration immediately following at the UMSL Mark Twain Athletic Building. Interment will be private at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
