James “Jim” Havey

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, the world lost a great man, James Gerard Havey, 60. Jim was born on Friday, March 13, 1959, in St Louis Missouri.

Jim was married to the love of his life, Donna Gail Havey on August 23, 1986. They had and always will have unconditional love for each other that everyone around them only hoped for. Their love for each other is undeniable and one of the most beautiful things ever. They were not only husband and wife but also Soulmates and Best friends.

On August 13, 1985 this beautiful love created their son Sean Patrick Havey. Jim was a wonderful Dad. Jim was the Dad all other kids wish they had. He was loving, caring, and supportive not only to Sean but to all around him. He was always there to coach in all sports, especially roller hockey even when he couldn’t stand up on skates. He enjoyed anything he could do with Sean and his friends. Sean and Dad had a special bond and love for each other. Jim was so happy for Sean when he met his love Jasmine Jones.

This love was carried on when we were blessed with 2 beautiful Grandson’s, Forrest and Lucas. Forrest loved Paw Paw and always had a big smile on his face when Paw Paw was around. Forrest went to heaven on August 26,2019 and I am sure was the first one to greet Paw Paw when he got there. Lucas was the love of Paw Paw life. Paw Paw was always excited when Lucas was coming to visit. When you ask Lucas who his best friend is, he always said Paw Paw. Lucas looked up to Paw Paw for everything. If something needed batteries, only Paw Paw could put them in for him. Their love was so strong.

Jim had the biggest heart that he opened to everyone. Jim has the best friends anyone could ever ask for. Jim was a great friend to all he met. So many people talk so highly of Jim and never a bad word said. Jim was blessed with great friends his whole life. There is a special group of friends from high school years, Oyster Bar days, his dart family, his drinking buddies at Bogey’s and many others that he just crossed paths with.

Jim is survived by a wonderful family, Tom, Ellen, Carrie (Havey)Olsen and husband Matt, Mary Jane and the late Brian Havey, Michael(Luke) Havey and son Michael Havey, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by his wonderful mother, Mary Jane Havey and his father, James Dunn Havey.

No words can describe the kind hearted man that Jim was. Unknown to all, he made a donation to Mid America transplant for anything he had that could save others. His donation could change the lives of many he didn’t even know. How much kinder of a man could there be.

In lieu of flowers, JIm family as any donations go to help pay for the extensive medical bills left behind for his extended and hard fought health issues.

Celebration of Jim life will be Sunday, October 20, 2019 at South Broadway Athletic Club, 2301 S 7th Street, St Louis Mo. 63104. Visitation from 2-4 and special service sharing our memories of Jim from 4-5. We invite everyone afterward to stay and share a meal together and a toast to Jim.

Jim was the best person and boss that anybody could ever ask for. I will never forget my fond memories of doing dishes and him twirling around dancing, the jokes and the kindness of donating the food that they had. He had a way of making everybody feel like family and enjoying every part of life. He will be missed by many

I am so sorry. I love reading all of the comments about Jim. I will never forget when I met you both. I knew right away that you were the ones for Bobo. And the way Jim would talk about him and the stories and updates. I always loved hearing from you both. Such amazing, compassionate and fun people. I feel so lucky to have crossed paths with you both, and know that my sweet Bo is with his daddy now. Thoughts, prayers and hugs to you!

The monks of Saint Louis Abbey will keep him in our prayers. May he rest in peace.

I only knew Jim from darts and seeing him in Kansas City the past 6 years. I sure did miss seeing both Donna and Jim this year. He always was so fun to talk to and just to be around. He will be truly missed. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family Donna.
